Following on from 2011’s KUBIK Melbourne, and 2012’s Where?House, Melbourne Music Week presents a brand new, pop-up flagship venue and entertainment precinct: The Residence – custom built by the People’s Market.

Emerging as if from a mirage, a monstrous, futuristic structure will yawn into life from the sandy banks of Birrarung Marr. For nine days, and ten nights, a stunning fusion of video mapping, light installations and digital arts will complement a wall-to-wall sound storm of cutting edge musical programming, with local and international performances curated by our city’s famed labels and promoters.

Surrounding the enclosed structure, The People’s Market (the crew responsible for Collingwood’s summertime pop-up hot-spot) will bring their ‘everything-goes’ market vibes to the ‘People’s Garden’, a botanical wonderland of food and retail offerings, with ample seating to rest those weary, music-loving feet.

Free to attend and open from 12pm-1am throughout MMW, The People’s Garden will also feature Melbourne’s favourite chefs producing a rotating selection of locally sourced cuisine, free daily Mess+Noise lunchbox live music sessions, and daily live broadcasts from TripleR. Whether coming to one of the free or ticketed events within The Residence, or simply looking for a lunchtime spot that’s mad-cap-cool, The People’s Garden will provide a spring picnic wonderland of food, music, market stalls and more.

Each event at The Residence is curated by a leading industry player.
